Stretton Gardens was master planned in 2008 by ABM Architects. ABM continued designing each stage and these pictured are a collection from stage 1 through to stage 3.
The project began as a greenfield site with natural bushland adjacent to 2 of its 3 boundaries and a public park and residential homes to the remainder. The site aspect and contours enabled rationalised site planning into a programme that limited impact to existing adjacent residents and the residents on site.
The independent living unit (ILU) architecture reflected the suburban context which extended to the central facilities.
A very successful development and a true colocation model. The project consists of 60 residential aged care rooms along with 100 ILUs. Central facilities include catering, domestic laundry, administration, recreation and therapy facilities and staff areas.
ABM Architects provided design, documentation and managing contract support for the project.
